Bit Discovery would like to announce our 2020 Internet Asset Inventory Report (IAI).

This report was a long time in the making for a number of reasons. First, the tech necessary to properly enumerate, catalog, and run statistics on the largest companies on earth simply didn’t exist until very recently. Secondly, it took a lot of time and careful thinking, while collaborating with external industry experts—to come up with a series of statistics that would be useful, interesting, and ubiquitous across industries.

The report highlights interesting insights. For example, people don’t seem to be “moving” into the cloud, but rather, they seem to be shifting their new development to be cloud-based, verses moving their old assets. It shows stark differences in the size and scale of different industries. The report also shows how industries use technology and the prevalence by industry.

This is the first of many future statistical reports, assuming people find value in the IAI data. Given that this is the first of such reports, we know there is much work to be done, and we are looking forward to hearing what people think should be in the reports going forward. We assume people will want trend data and deeper stats around specific technologies, but it’s difficult to know without getting direct feedback. Now that people know that this type of analysis can be performed, we assume there will be a lot of questions and discussions about what’s next. Thankfully, our technology is very flexible and will allow us to enumerate a lot of different questions that people may have—like questions related to technology stack, hosting, configuration, use of language, marketing/social, and on and on. It is virtually endless.

With that said, please download the 2020 Bit Discovery Internet Asset Inventory Report, here.

We really look forward to hearing what sort of feedback you have, and how we can improve future IAI reports over time to be more inclusive of the kinds of questions you might like to be answered. Please tweet at @jeremiahg or @RSnake or send us a message using our contact form.
